Aviation scholarship helps students elevate pilot career

MIAMI (September, 2018)

Dominic Liberta and Peter Sheppard are today, one step closer to achieving their pilot dreams and goals. Both were recently awarded scholarships by Pan Am International Flight Academy through the Greater Miami Aviation Association (GMAA).These programs are presented to support outstanding future pilots in furthering their careers.For this occasion, Pan Am International Flight Academy granted an A320 Type Rating certification and an Airline Transport Pilot certification or ATP/CTP course, which is the stand‐alone requirement serving as a pre‐requisite for the ATP written exam for multiengine.

The grant is part of GMAA’s Bachelor Scholarship Foundation which awards scholarships to qualified aviation students pursuing a career in the South Florida aviation industry.

“The mission of the Greater Miami Aviation Association is to support and increase the pool of qualified South Florida college graduates who are pursuing careers in the aerospace industry and to enhance the overall effectiveness of our members through knowledge, networking and cooperation,” Said GMAA board of directors “This is why our partnership and scholarship with Pan Am International Flight Academy is so important to our mission.”

GMAA announced that over 20 students from local Universities and Colleges will be provided between $2,000 and $10,000 in scholarships under the George T. Batchelor Scholarship Fund. Pan Am International Flight Academy proudly sponsored an ATP/CTP and a type rating training totaling $30,000 in real value. Over the past five years the GMAA has provided close to $400,000 in scholarships to local young aviators. “Providing access to those students who are demonstrating passion and effort in aviation and may just need some extra help is imperative to our organization,” said Mark Johnson, Executive Vice President of Pan Am International Flight Academy “This is why we collaborate each year with the GMAA scholarship program, to give those future aviation leaders the opportunity to pursue a career in aviation. We are proud to be able to provide Dominic and Peter with this opportunity.”

Dominic Liberta and Peter Sheppard will be formally awarded the scholarship at the GMAA yearly gala held this October 2018.
