Inaugural ATP CTP Training begins at Pan Am Academy

Miami – September 21, 2015

The inaugural class of Airline Transport Pilot Certification (ATP-CTP) students seeking FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certification, began in earnest today at Pan Am International Flight Academy’s Miami training center.

Six students began their week-long training regime, consisting of 30 hours of academic training including: Aerodynamics, Meteorology, Air Carrier Operations, Leadership, CRM and Safety—plus 10 hours of training and demonstration (4 hours fixed-base, 6 hours full flight) in the A-320 or B737NG full-motion Level D simulator.

The company has just received FAA approval to train on the 737NG. Company spokesman Ralph Leach, VP of Sales and Marketing states: “Pan Am is the only company able to offer ATP-CTP training on these different aircraft, which positions us to be a major provider of this required course.”  Leach continues: “With our already comprehensive list of training programs and courses, the addition of ATP-CTP training makes Pan Am the single source educational aviation organization for customers.”

The FAA recently required additional steps in ATP Certification, including completion of the ATP-CTP course, increased flight experience, passing the ATP written exam as well as performing at the required levels during the ATP practical oral and flight testing—all in an effort to improve overall air safety.

Pan Am International Flight Academy is one of only a handful of training organizations authorized to conduct the ATP-CTP training program.

As the original training division of former Pan American World Airways, the company is one of the largest and most experienced educational aviation training organizations in the world, with several U.S., Europe and Asia locations and 60 full-motion flight simulators— and over 200 training courses for pilots, flight engineers, air traffic controllers, dispatchers, and flight attendants.
